About Us

The Mobile Media Movement is a group of students from the University of Georgia who are working with the New Media Institute to show the world the importance of the mobile device for media, advertising, and public good. Our motto is Personal Media | Public Good, and we intend to produce quality media for the small, portable screen.

Why we do what we do

Our goals are as follows:

To promote public welfare digitally and for the mobile viewer
To establish the University of Georgia as a leader in the area of mobile media
To help set standards for the creation of mobile media through research
To successfully run an event in Atlanta (more coming)

New Media Institute at UGA

Students from the NMI 2008 capstone class conceived and built the Mobile Media Movement. For years before this, however, the NMI has been a key player in drawing attention to new media technologies and methods, by teaching and listening to bright students. From classes in Second Life to AIDS awareness projects, the NMI has a wealth of creativity.

Verizon

A continuous supporter of the New Media Institute, Verizon has always taken special interest in how they can use technology to better the world, not just their customers. They were especially helpful for the AIDS Personal PSA 2007 event, and will be again for the 2008 AIDS Personal PSA in Atlanta.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The CDC has taken a special interest in our 2008 AIDS Personal PSA mission to bring AIDS awareness to a new market. We are priveledged to work with such a premier health organization to help spread AIDS awareness.
